How do you build your own wind generator?

Question

so on a previous question i asked regarding "what you do to reduce effects of global warming" someone mentioned that he built hid own wind generator

so out of curiosity

what materials are needed to build such a generator?

what does it do?

what can it replace?

I managed to build my wind generator completely from recycled materials. I used magnets and coils from old broken microwaves + some old metal and recycled plastic . I use it to charge car batteries which then powers 12 volt devices or using a converter convert the power to mains voltage.

Basicall you place an even number of magnets in a  circle  alternating n/s poles on a disk which is rotated by wind vanes. Then in front of the magnets are coils of wire. As the wind rotates the magnets a current is induced in the coils. Using diodes or rectifiers the alternating current from the coils can then be converted int direct current so devices can be powered and / or batteries charged

If you replaced all your stuff with all the right stuff, it will replace your electric bill, and no one but you will know, other than how you brag about, how you made it, how you have no bill.

The wind blows, blades turn, 3-phase electricity is made,  your batteries are recharged.

well a wind generator to power your house has to be really big im talking about the one you find in the fields but you still can build on and you can buy one

the supplies are sheet metal a small twist generator experience with tools, and loads of patience

does not power much but it can power small things

Building a wind generator is fairly complicated.  We used one on our boat and it powered small electronics such as a personal DVD player, a tiny TV, and lights as long as there was wind most of the time.   It would take quite a large generator to replace all the electricity used in a house.  There are actually courses you can take to learn to build your own wind generator.   Here are a few interesting sites.

Buy an old windmill, connect it to a generator and build an array of batteries for storage when the wind isn't blowing.  All the details you are asking for would not fit this page.  I gave you the essential parts.  See an electrician or an electrical engineer.

Any electrical motor can be a generator.  A fan mounted onto the shaft can collect the wind.  Different motors and different fans produce better or more electricity in a given breeze.  For maximum performance, place your motor/fan equipment directly in front of the Democratic Presidential Candidates - you'll be able to backfeed and overload the national electrical grid.  :-)

Wind turns the blades making magnets pass back and forth generating power. You can connect those mechanics to something that stores it and then plug things into it, like your house or an electric car. There's some episode of Invention Nation on the discovery channel I saw once with instructions on how to build one.
