I'm a U.S. citizen, and I see a lot of good flight deals from Nassau to Havana online. But if I purchase a ticket online with my credit card I'll get caught and fined, right? How do people do it?

  1. Why would you want to risk it.

  2. Your credit card doesn't record WHERE you're travelling to.

It just records travel agency transaction.

I don't think you have to worry about that....also you can always fly to Nassau and book from there at an agency.

But again, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. You can always deal with the travel agencies directly located in Nassau.

I hope one day you do get to go to Cuba. You will just love it!

  3. You cannot enter Cuba from the US or any of its territories.  Nassau is not a US territory, so technically you could go there from Nassau.

The Bush administration has been cracking down hard on people who visit Cuba.

The Treasury Department forbids United States citizens to spend money there without authorization.  On paper, although not in practice, a violation can lead to a fine of up to $55,000.  Theoretically, violators could also face criminal prosecution and a fine of up to $250,00 and 10 years in prison.
