  1. Start when they're young and make it comfortable. Let the kennel door open and encourage your puppy to go in and out of it. Keep some toys  in the kennel to distract it. Then start putting the puppy in for short periods of time with the door closed. Make sure if your puppy cries, you don't let it out until it stops or it will think all it has to do is cry to get out. Trust me, this will become annoying. Good Luck!

  2. here is a website to do your research

  3. 1st you want to let him know that its a good place and not a bad place, place sum treats in and let him get them...keep doing this then eventually put his bowl in there. keeping the door open, you don't wanna scare him, then for a couple of days leave him in a bit longer. you should never leave your dog in one for more than 3 hours

  4. We don't call it a cage; we call it his "house"

(I know it's just a word, but cage has a negative connotation...)

From the day we got him, we kept him in there FOR SHORT PERIODS while we were around, to get him used to it.

We put some food in there, to entice him.

When we let him out, we would leave the door open, with some food in there, and he would actually go in by himself.

We never put him in there as a "punishment", because then it becomes a place he doesn't like.

It has become a place he still (1 year old) likes, and goes in when he's tired, bored, etc...

  5. Turn the crate into their sleeping area.  Dogs are clean animals. believe it or not.  They will avoid soiling their sleeping quarters at all costs.  Make sure the pup has a nice soft cozy blanket or cushy dog bed in the crate as well as a few toys.  When you "lock" her away for the night, she will howl and protest, but the best thing is just to ignore it.  By ignoring her cries, eventually, she'll realize nobody will give her attention if she's whining, and tire of waiting for you, and fall asleep.  Eventually, she'll just get used to it.
