How is GPA calculated?

I'm going to be a junior in high school, and at the end of freshman year, these were my grades:

Theology 92, English Honors 92, History Honors 96, Geometry Honors 84, Biology 90, French 93, Health (if this counts; we only take it one year out of four) 98, Music 95

I know GPA usually factors in prior grades as well, but just a formula of some sort to figure this out would be helpful. As I look at colleges that have minimum GPA requirements or list average student high school GPA in 3.76, 4.0, 3.45, whatever, format, I wanted to be able to compare mine to see where I am in terms of this.

Thanks :)

  1. it depends on what scale your high school is on. some high schools use a 5.0 scale which mine did some use 4.0 i know in our agenda book it had every grade and what the gpa would be if you took regular cp honor or ap then you had it all up and divide by the number of classes you took. the only way your gonna be able to find out is find your schools gpa list and go from there maybe if you dont have it in the agenda book it'll be on the school website. good luck!

  2. every class is graded.

    a = 4 (90-100)

    b = 3  (80-89)

    c = 2 (70-79)

    d = 1 (60-69)

    f = 0  (>60)

    so...

    92+92+96+84+90+93+98+95=740

    740 / 8 = 92.5

    92.5% of 4.0 = 3.7

    B+  grade point average

  3. A = 4

    B = 3

    C = 2

    D = 1

    F = 0

    Add all of your grades up and divide by the number of classes you are taking

  4. Each letter grade has a point value.

    A = 4pts.

    B = 3pts.

    C = 2pts.

    D = 1pt.

    F = 0pt.

    Add up all your total points and divide by how many grades you have.

    For example:

    Class 1 = A

    Class 2 = A

    Class 3 = C

    Class 4 = B

    Class 5 = A

    Class 6 = D

    So that would be: 4 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 = 18.

    18 divided by 6 grades =

    3.0 Grade Point Average.

  5. well A's are usually 4's, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. so im guessing your grades are out of 100? so you probably have all A's or in other words a 4.0. unless you know all of you grades and you can find the average, which will give you your GPA

  6. A's are worth 4 points, B's are worth 3 points, C's are worth 2 points, D's are worth 1 point, and F's are worth no points.  Add up all your letters grades using that point system, and then divide by then number of classes you are figuring.  So, if you had 2 a's and 2 b's, you would have 14 points.  That divided by 4 is 3.5, so there's the gpa.

  7. A=4

    B=3

    C=2

    D=1

    F=0

    NOW GRADE ALL YOUR CLASSES LIKE THAT AND ADD THEM UP:)

  8. A = 4 B=3 C=2 D=1.  example: got 4 A's so that is 4+4+4+4= 16, divide this # by the total # of grades (in this case you got graded 4 times) so 16/4 = 4.0. if we follow this formula, and assume that all of the scores that you got are out of 100 points then you got (A) for Theology, (A) for E Honors, (A) for H Honors, (B) for G Honors, (A) for Biology, (A) for French, (A) for Health, and (A) for Music then

    7(A)= 28 1(B)= 3  28+3=31/8 = 3.87 GPA

    if we do not count health

    6(A)= 24 1(B)=3   24+3=27/7 = 3.85 GPA

    I would say you are doing good

    comulative GPA is also an average

    add each GPA and divide by the # of GPA's counted

  9. try this

  10. Sorry i don't know how to calculate it either, but d**n! Your smart. I thought I was a hot-shot being on the honor roll, but WOW! My grades are 90's AND 80's. I have a feeling your grades are good enough for any college or university.

  11. A = 4.0

    A- = 3.66

    B+ = 3.33

    B = 3.0

    so you multiply what you earned by how many credits it is worth and then you divide your points and your credits out

    also it depends on how your school calculates grades in some schools and 92 isn't an a- so I didn't know.

    also are your honors courses worth more

    is it a 5.0 scale or a 4.0 scale etc...
