  1. DVLA didn't start recording emissions until 2001

If it is in relation to the new car tax then it states cars made pre 2001 will continue to be based on engine size

Your emissions are usually recorded in your MOT though

  2. This will be different for every vehicle. Especially if your car is over 10 years old. Depending on how it has been maintained it will vary greatly. The only way to know for sure is to have the emissions tested by an analyzer. Probably some form of a gas chromatograph that will determine the amounts of specific types of chemicals. The link below will tell you generally what automobile emissions consist of.

  3. When you get your car motd they do  an emissions test on your exhaust that measures the co2 and no emissions.

The manufactures of your car test new engines and give the government average figures for a well maintained engines emissions for the cars they produce. These figures are used for classification of your car for road tax purposes.

New cars have data on emissions on their websites eg if a ford look up ford.uk for information.

  4. If you go here:-

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/

and find your car, and click "more info" it will tell you.
