  1. The concentration of a substance in solution, expressed as the number moles of solute per kilogram of solvent.

  2. molality is moles of solute over kilograms of solvent. solute is what is being dissolved, solvent is what it is being dissolved in. (there might be other situations other than dissolving). so if you are dissolving 5 g of salt in a kilogram of water, you have to convert 5g to moles using the molecular mass, and divide by the amount of solvent in kg.

  3. Molarity is the term in which gram molecular weight of solute is taken and water is added till 1000 ml the solution is known as 1 molar solution

Molality is the term in which 1000 gm solvent is taken and in that gram molecular weight solute is added then it is known as 1 molal solution.

In short for molarity solute is taken and solvent is added later to make 1 litre solution

for molality 1000 gm solvent is taken and then solute is added.
