  1. Treadmills can vary a bit, but yes, "distance" is probably where you should be looking.

Do beware if it's displaying in miles or kilometers. 1 mile = 1.6 kilometers.

Your individual speed can vary of course, but the average person "jogging" on a treadmill should cover 1 mile every 8-11 minutes. Hopefully that helps you ensure you're looking at the right thing. It will probably increase in tenths of a mile, too. (0.1 -> 0.2 -> 0.3, etc.)

  2. One mile is 5,280 feet. 5,280 feet is 63,360 inches. Those are the numbers for a mile.

If you haven't spent at least 8-15 minutes jogging/walking, then you definitely have not reached a mile.

  3. well dude, there are some mobiles that when u keep in ur pocket, in ur pants i mean, automatically calculate the dist u hav walked

  4. Depending on how much I run, I measure out 7 miles on the road with my car and mark each mile , that away when I run I know how many miles I will be running out and back from my house

  5. I'd use a pedometer, nike+ sensor or a running computer like a Garmin forerunner, with the foot pod to check.  My treadmill shoes me only the speed the belt is moving, I'm under 5 foot so what is a normal fast pace for a regular person is a faster pace for me.  I use sensors and a pedometer as I'm training for a 5K and need to check my pace and distance.  The Garmin and footpod are on my list as a reward for running a 5K at the end of the year.
