  1. Drop it in the water and take a Sharpie to draw line where the top of the water meets the hull.


  2. To calculate the water line, take the weight of the boat, motor, full fuel tanks, occupants, and other gear, convert this weight into gallons of water, and find the volume of boat bottom that will displace this amount of water. If the bottom is irregular, the best way will be to put the boat into water, and load it to its maximum and see where the water line is.

  3. put the boat in the water for a few days, after you fill up the tanks, then pull it out and you willl have your water line
