How do you care for stainless steel saucepans/frying pans?

I've just been given a VERY expensive set of stainless steel cookware - saucepans and frying pan, and I want to keep them in good condition. Whats the best way to care for them?

  1. Use Fairy Liquid.


  2. just pop them in the dishwasher and rub a little oil inthe frying pan before you put it away.

    The inside of a dishwasher is made of stainless steel and no harm comes to that !

  3. Do not use!!!!  or if you have to, use a brillo pad sorted!!!!

I have All Clad stainless steel pots and pans and you don't have to be gentle with them.  I used the blue sponges with the blue scrubber and dish soap to hand wash them.  Sometimes I run them through the dishwasher.  If they are really bad then you can let them soak overnight or I use Bon Ami cleanser.  

    The major enemy is letting salt sit in them!  Always boil the water then add salt, learned that the hard way.

  5. The best thing is not to use them just keep them for show, and leave the grubby looking ones that you use out of sight!

  6. no scouring pads they will leave scratches you can buy liquid cleaner,or the stainless steel cleaners ,,

  7. Run them through the dishwasher this will make them look nice, on no account use a green nylon pan scrubber this will destroy the finish.

    If you are a little nervous because they were expensive try the D/W method on an older SS pan first Good luck

    The best way to care for these sorts of pans is to not scrub them hard  with a scourer and not to leave them in the sink too  long to soak .  Also, a good way of keeping them in tip-top condition is by rubbing them with  olive oil or peanut oil gently on the inside with a dry cloth before you put them away.  I have had my wok for ages, and it still serves me well!
