Question:

How do you catch perch?

i have tried tiny jigs tipped with worms, maggots etc...the lake i fish on doesn't have the best visibility but i know they are in there because the limit is 15...i fish for them near weed beds, drop offs and reefs...how do i catch those suckers

  1. i would try using a worm on a J hook unless there is something else in there that would eat the worm and hook that you do not want to catch then you should try using a lure that isn't the jig and C if it works any better.


  2. small minnows / shiners work great - worms with the special curved hooks because they're very good at stealing your bait...

  3. minnows and smaller worms work great.  You have to make sure you are deep enough because the are  from 20 -45 feet in the water.

  6. in scotland you can land 40-50 perch a day on maggots with a pencil float. secret, and i hope this helps,watch you float ALL the time and pull straight away and use a keep net 'cause if you return a caught perch back to the pool it can take the rest of the school away 'cause it got a fright. tight lines
