How do you change a pic from bmp to jpg?

tried that, it's not working. Nothing comes up that says jpg anywhere. can you give me more detailed instructions?

  1. Open it in Paint which is included with XP and Vista. Save as JPG.

  2. From Paint >click File/save as at top left>>in bar window at bottom place your curser next to name of pic >type this without spaces .jpg...meaning there can be no spaces between name of pic and .jpg
