  1. First, realize that changing a file's extension doesn't change the contents of the file.  An MS Word .doc file won't magically change to a graphic by changing it to a .jpg file.

    That being said, you can change filename extensions with Windows Explorer (My Computer in Windows XP, Computer in Windows Vista).  Just select the file, right-click on it and select Rename.
