How do you change your pic from that grey head thing?

i am new to this site and i have a grey head pic thing. i know how to make one of those cartoon things but how can i have a display piture that i took myself, like some people have? is it hard to do? how do you do it? and can anyone answer my other question... pls....

Get a Yahoo 360 account and then you can upload a piccy and use that.

1. Go into the Yahoo 360 "My Page" and choose "Settings" at the top of the page.

2. Go to the section on "Yahoo Identity Display."

3. Look for the primary Yahoo profile -- the main, original profile one creates when first setting up a Yahoo account.

4. Check to see if the original Yahoo account is disabled or unchecked (without a check in the box next to it) which people often do when creating new profiles.

5. In my case, I had unchecked it, and I had not linked it in any way to my newer profile.

6. Place a checkmark next to the original Yahoo account name. Underneath, put a dot in the circle that says, "Display me as NICKNAME"

7. There is no need to make that original Yahoo profile your primary profile.

8. Click and Save the changes.

Go to edit may profile.

You can load it from there.

Or, make a 360 profile. Load it there. And go to my profile. Chose that one.

Click, e.g. 'My Profile' (if you don't see that up right, click, e.g. 'answer'), click 'Edit My Info' (kind of middle of page, right of center. Search with Ctrl+F if you don't find it), then 'Edit my Yahoo! Avatar'

Go to Yahoo avatars and create one that looks just like you. I hope you don't look all gray and washed out.

When you are logged in go to MY PROFILE on the green bar on top.  You see the EDIT  MY INFO option in the top area in the middle. Then you can choose either "no picture"(they grey head) "my yahoo 360 picture" or you can create a yahoo avatar.
