How do you check to see if an online shopping store is legit?

How do you know...what are the signs...??? I want to shop, but don't know how to be sure that I'm not giving my money away and falling into a scam.

some sighns to look for are

1. contact onfo is non existant , except for a e-mail page without an address.

2. only payments accepted are western union and money transfers, 2 of the hardest to ever get back if there is a problem,

3. prices to good to be true,

if the site does not make you feel comfortable buying from them, then please don't/
