  1. The Public can't. When i worked for BP Shipping they knew the position of every ship because it was sent in at regular intervals.

  2. Your friends are having you on because google earth isnt in real time!

  3. I've lived in my house for 5 years and there's still a skip outside from when the previous owners were moving out!!

  4. If it's a Princess ship they have live webcams. Go to Princess.com then view ships then webcam for which ever ship you want. The film updates every 60 seconds.

  5. in case you didnt know, Google's satellite imagery is usually at least a year old... so if you wanna catch anything new, forget it....

  6. Hi, click on the link to track cruise ships

  7. I don't think that is possible - the photoson Google Earth are not live feeds

  8. You can't because Google Earth is not "live" it is photographs taken some time ago.

The reason being that the military don't want people to have that ability/power

  9. It's not a live feed.

You wouldn't be able to see the ships, you might be able to find their position, but would see nothing.

  10. Don't think you can. It is not a live view of the Earth but a recorded one.I can see my house with my car parked out front but no cars in the road or pedestrians walking.I don't think you could see individual ships on the ocean. There are probably ways of tracing a ships position by satellite but I don't think this is Google Earth.

  11. If you look at the date at the bottom of Googel Earth pics you'll see it's usually ages ago.  If you look at Portsmouth they're still building the Spinnaker Tower accourding to Google Earth.

Even if it was bang up to date, it wouldn't be updated very frequently, so you'd still only be looking at snapshots.  So you'd need a very good guess to estimate where in the Med the particular cruise ship was.  You would not see it moving though!!

  12. You can get the address of the ports, and input it into Google earth, and if the image timing is right, then you can see pics of the ships in port, but it is not current.  You can see them at Port Canaveral, and Fort Lauderdale, and well as the tenders at Grand Cayman.  I do not know of any live images of this type.
