  1. it depends on how many watts your amp will put out. my amp puts out 2000 watts so i have a 2 farad capacitor. for every 1000 watts you should have 1 farad, as far as brands go it dosent really matter they all do the same thing

  2. simple...you don't!

always upgrade your electrical system in this order:

    1. the big 3

    2. a good battery (optima or kinetic)

    3. HO alt (if needed)

    4. add more batteries (if still needed)

if you notice serious car audio competitors will never use a cap. they use racks of batteries for a reason. besides, for what you spend on a cap, you can easily spend it on upgrading properly. a cap will supply only short bursts of power to your amps. batteries and a good alt. will provide a constant supply to your entire car. also, a cap is useless unless you upgrade your big 3, a good battery and alt. anyways….adding an electrical component to an already struggling electrical system will only make matters worse. if you want to do some research, you can do a search here: http://www.caraudio.com/forum.

  3. steve_swny doesn't even know what his own subs are, don't listen to ANYTHING he says(he says he has 15" W3's, but JL's biggest woofers are 13.5") THE BEST POWER CAP IS THE ONE YOU DON'T BUY!!!!! They are just made to look cool, and don't do anything useful. If you are having problems with your electrical system get a High Output Alternator and/or a second battery. Its the only way to really fix a charging problem, a cap is just a Band-Aid, a colorful cartoon themed Band-aid.

  4. i dislike them,,i run a extra marine deep cycle battery in the trunk powers a jl-audio 1000watt and a massive 4k amp just fine? im running two jl-audio 15w3vd4 dvc and 3 10s jl-audio subs

  5. some compute it at 1 farad per 1000watts. i think thats the norm.

personally 1 go with 1 farad per 300watts. not that i need 300watts total rms to get the sound i'm looking for.

for me 1 farad per 300watts is safe considering the current draw of the amps, size and length of your cables and capacity of your charging system. it takes the math out of all of that.

    practice safe sound.

  6. it all depends on the watts your running for a 500w rms system your gunna need no less that .5 farad cap
