Here in the Raleigh area, we have WRAL, News 14 Carolina, WTVD, & WNCN.

I chose WRAL cuz it's the leading news team & most well known in the Triangle. Plus they have coverage I can count on.

  1. I also chose WRAL cuz they come on in the morning at the right time.

    7:00am-9:00am

I also like Brian Shrader and his traffic reports.

  2. Eh...I suppose if I HAVE to pick a tv channel, it'll be WRAL.

But they all stink if you ask me.

I get much better local news & information from the Independent Weekly (www.indyweek.com) or even the News & Observer.

  3.   Although I don't really care about the revolving door of on air personalities, I do tend to choose newscasters I like at the time. I also like newscasts that have features about useful information, upcoming events, and what city counsel is up to. I stay away from broadcasts that dwell on that day's shooting. They get very little coverage in the newspaper, but TV news is all over it. I don't have time to listen  to the details of some drug deal gone bad.

I care that the weather forecast is fairly accurate. I almost plan picnics when one morning broadcast predicts rain. Another has a real good forecast.

The bottom line is simple. Are you more informed about your community after the local broadcast, or were you filled with the latest tales of woe.

  4. When we are in for severe weather (Texas) I watch one station because of their great in depth weather man.  Then on Thursday mornings we watch another station because they have a great Vet that takes questions from viewers. Depending on what we want to see we sometimes change from one to the other.
