Question:

How do you classify a triad like CFG?

Essentially a C major triad with a sharp 3, but is there a more elegant way of putting it? I've been trying to tab a song for guitar and I'm rather stumped what to call this chord. Thanks!

  2. the 1-4-5 progression?  Rock's bread and butter.

  3. You could call it a C sus-4.  I'd only use that if it resolves to a regular C chord.  All things considered, classification depends on the context of the chord.
