I have white canvas polo shoes. How do you clean them?

Is the washing machine ok? then the dryer?

or should I use one of those Mr. Clean Pens or Tide Pens? I heard they work ok too. thanks!

The stains are just a few light dirt stains. nothing big.

Does the washing machine destroy the glue like I've been hearing? or do they turn them yellowish?

thanks

  1. Do not use washing machine, unless they are yard work shoes, because they will lose their shape, sturdiness, and never be the same.  Do not use hot water, ever, it sets stains, same goes for the dryer, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.

What works really well, is Clorox II, all fabric bleach, regular bleach can yellow the shoes.  Pretreat the area, let sit for a little while, then add a small amount of detergent with a gentle brush, and hand scrub the shoes.  Take care to use as little water as possible, and try to rinse only the uppers, do not immerse the entire shoe if possible.  When rinsed, wrap in towels to blot out all excess water, then dry out in the sun. You should stuff the shoes with plastic bags to keep the shape while drying.  GOOD LUCK!!!
