How do you clean a babies bum?

My friends baby always screams and cries when I try and wipe the poo off. Why is this????

If the baby wipes are too rough or cold, it could cause her discomfort.

Maybe the baby is allergic or sensitive to the wipes. Try hypoallergenic, sensitive wipes. Maybe they're too cold, try to warm them. Maybe it's a sensitive baby and you need to be gentler. Maybe the baby is just angry at being naked and having their bum manipulated!

BTW, I think wipes are fine. What a hassle to put the baby in the bath after every poo!! My kids p**p 2-3 times a day. I don't have that kind of free time!

In any event, if the baby is a girl, (which you don't mention), always always make sure to wipe from front to back to lessen the chances that fecal matter enters the urinary tract and cause an infection!

I do the bath thing too.  Wipes are expensive and can cause diaper rash.  Of course I use wipes when I'm in public or something, but the best way to get all the poopies gone if you're at home is to head straight to the bath!

i would either use a warm washcloth, or use a wipe warmer, or just put the kid int he bath when the baby poops. ive been puting my son in the bath, hes three and working on potty training, plus it saves money on wipes.
