How do you clean a varsity jacket?

I just bought a great old varsity jacket from a vintage clothing store, but it's kind of dirty so i need to wash it before i wear it, but I don't know how. I'd like to avoid dry cleaning if possible, it can be pretty harsh. It's got leather sleeves and all that, just a typical varsity jacket.

I wouldn't risk it and just dry clean it.

You could hand wash it gently with baby shampoo in warm water..just slightly warm or in the delicate cycle of your washing machine. Make sure to rinse well and hang it in front of a fan to dry.
