  1. I shine up the bottom of my copper bottom pots by cleaning them with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  It does a really good job.

  2. try Brasso or Neverdull. They shine metals fairly well.

  3. Soak it in tomato sauce for a couple of hours.  (Ketchup will work in a pinch.) Then rinse clean.

  4. To clean copper use ketchup oe worcestershire sauce.  Wipe on, rub

until clean, rinse, and wipe off.

  5. Without using harsh chemical brass cleaners, I simply wash the kettle, then sprinkle it with baking soda, rub with a damp spong and then rinse it well.  This will bring back the shine without harming the  environment.

  6. I have a couple of copper items hanging in my kitchen for display and the best/easiest thing I've found that works and doesn't tear your hands up is Bar Keeper's Friend.  It's a powdered cleanser that does wonders on metal without harming it.  You can buy it in most discount stores like Wal-Mart, K-Mart and some grocery stores.  It's not expensive and lasts for a long time.

I would suggest a thorough washing with a dish detergent before scrubbing with the Bar Keeper's Friend.  That removes the grease/oil and makes the scrubbing job a lot easier.  The cleanser is good on rust, tarnish, soap scum but just not real good on grease..
