How do you clean dusty velvet?

This is a little bit embarrassing, but the inside of my makeup box is velvet, and it has been sitting open for ages and thus dust has accumulated on the velvet surface. There is also some powder residue from makeup throughout. I'd like to give the box a good clean, what is the best way to do this?

yeah get a vacuum cleaner for makeup boxes. or a small dust cleaner (small broom) for cleaning things.

I'd be tempted to use the vacuum cleaner.  Put the crevice tool on and give it a go.  That will pull the makeup out and get rid of most of it.

Put your hairdryer on the low (or preferrably NO) heat setting and give it a good blow out.  If there is still some powder residue, etc, try getting a clean, soft and dry brush (like those ones you use to clean dirt out from under your nails) and rub gently.  Then give it another going over with the hairdryer.
