I have beautiful black and brown granite in my kitchen and I clean it with soap and water but it never gets that glossy look. How can I clean them so they look "good as new"?

  1. Any Home Depot, Menards or other store will have granite polisher in a spray bottle.

  2. After cleaning your granite use a vinegar wash to remove all soap residue. Use a granite sealer, allow it to soak in, then wipe any remaining leftover. You must seal your granite at least once a year, more if the counters are heavily used. Any brand of sealer is fine as they are all the same.

  3. try a different soap or use spra bottle cleaners like windex or 409

  4. First seal your countertops. Do not use water since liquid and granite are a bad combo. Liquids are penetrated in the granite and can leave stains. After you seal the countertop, use 409 granite cleaner. You can get it at any supermarket and it is in the same isle as other household cleaners (Clorox, Lysol etc).

  5. Soap and water will dull the finish of your countertop. I would only use a cleaner/polisher specifically designed for granite. This will protect your granite and give it a beautiful shine. You can get them at hardware stores, home improvement stores, Wal-Mart, etc... I would not use vinegar, as it is an acid and will eat into the finish. Also, do not use regular household cleaners, as they are too harsh for the granite. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  6. vinegar and water add equal amounts in spray bottle spray and wipe clean.
