  1. ok this is gonna sound stupid but my dad loves model trains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

    anyways cotton swabs or my dad bought a car with liquid in it that cleans the track for u, it was only like 20$

You can buy "Tarnex" at the grocery/hardware store - this does a pretty good job of removing oxides on copper alloys.  If you have physical buildup, you may want to use a gentle abrasive.  Your hobby store should have a special car that you can tow around the track behind your engine and will clean the rails "automatically"  They will also have a liquid that goes on the felt scrubbers that is harmless to the rails and non-abrasive.

  3. I've used large HARD rubber erasers, "Big-Boy" cleaning blocks, and paper-towels with a touch of rubbing alcohol over the years.

    Never use sand or Emery paper... it scratches the rails.
