Question:

How do you clean puffy oven mitts?

Oven mitts get so disgusting! There's caked-on food from all the baking projects I've done, sauce stains... it's foul.

The problem is, they're "puffy" (with towel-loop lining) and though they're cotton, I'm really not sure how to clean them efficiently. I'm sort of hesitant to throw them in the wash, because 1.) they soak up water like a sponge and probably wouldn't dry out in the dryer, and 2.) I don't want that food residue in with my clothing!

Any suggestions?

  1. Wash them buy themselves in a small load and put a can of coke in the wash with your soap. The coke will get rid of the grease that builds up on oven mitts. You might try just hanging them outside to dry for the day.
