My bolt for my 1905 M-91 Mosin-Nagant is looking dirtier than when i first acquired it roughly 22 days ago, I don't know if i didn't see it then or if it has been gradually getter dirtier. Its in a roughly clean place, I have it in its soft rifle case that sits in the corner of my room, is there anyway to make it look cleaner, smoother, and not as rough?

  1. I imagine you have powder solvent. If so pour some on a cloth and clean the bolt with it. Firing corrosive surplus ammo can really cause wear on the rifle. So make sure you clean it after you shoot. Beyond that, you will want to occasionally oil the gun.

You do know the workings of the Mosin? Like how to field strip it?

Good. Then all you need to do is use a rag dipped in warm water, maybe with a little soap. Then just wipe the bolt.

But remember, the Vintovka Mosin wasn't made to look pretty. Its a war rifle, not a hunting rifle.
