How do you clean the exhaust vent on a glass top range oven?

I have a Hotpoint electric range with a glass top. The exhaust vent comes out below the control panel (above the stove top). Lately when I use the oven, stinky steam comes out the exhaust vent and water drips on to the stove top. I'd like to clean out the vent but I've never done it on a glass top range before. Any advice??

Put the oven in self clean this will clean that vent!
