  1. hot water & small amount of bleach.  Watch out for PET bottles, the plastic goes bad and can make you ill or do some damage.  Bad habit if you ever refill and drink out of them.

  2. Pour some salt in the water bottle and add some cold water- then shake it and rinse. That is what I do.

The whole- "do not refill water bottles it is not safe" is just to get you to go out there and buy more water bottles- and it is just nonsense - in my opinion.

The plastic in water bottles has in it harmful hormones similar to estrogen . The only time when it becomes unsafe to use any water bottle- (new or refilled ) is when the water bottle has been in direct sunlight. The sunlight will cause the hormones in the plastic to leach into the water and if you drink from it- into your body.

If you keep your bottles in room temperature and away from sunlight- you are fine.

Side Note: It is probably better (bacterial build up reasons) to change your water bottle often. You don't have to do it every day but maybe every few days. If you keep it for too long- even if you wash it- bacteria can still be present.

  3. you should not refil them as they give of harmful chemicals once they have been opened and should not be used once this has been done.

  4. put water & a little bit of soap and put lots of water then shake it make sure it mixes really good then pour it out and keep adding clean water till water tastes ok

  5. Go to the baby section @ any store and get a bottle cleaner. They have a sponge on one side and a little brush on the other. They have done the trick for me and are under 4 bucks. Otherwise just soapy water and then rinse off really good when you’re done! :)

  6. Put a little bit of dish soap in them and fill them about a quarter full of water.  Swish the bottle around for about 10-15 seconds and then dump out.  Then wash the outside of the bottle and the part you drink out of with a wash cloth.  Rinse and you will have a clean bottle.

  7. I wash them with warm soapy water, rinse well, then air dry.

I also purchased a couple of the plastic water bottles that I can clean in the dishwasher.  They're inexpensive and last a very long time.

I put about 2 or 3 inches of water in the bottle and set it in my freezer overnight. Be sure to leave the lid off.  Next day, I fill it with cold water from the fridge.  I then have cold water for several hours.  I need it in this heat wave we're having.
