Alot of times when a person is feeling down I feel their pain and I am blank. Later when I'm away from that person I then start realizing what I should have said and get mad at myself everytime!

  1. I think most of the time you don't have to say anything,  Your presence there with them says it all.

  2. Sometimes not knowing what to say is fine.  Sometimes all a hurting person needs is a long hug or someone to let them cry on their shoulder.  Trust me sometimes when I feel pain inside because of what is going on around me a long hug is better than a bunch of well thought words.  Then sometimes saying nothing and lending a listening ear is the best thing.

  3. The Samaritans state that you listen to people and do not judge others, in fact if you give advice to someone you fail to understand that to give advice in many cases is an attempt at control, just to be there and listen is all that is required.
