How do you completely wipe your computer hardrive to brand new?

I've noticed,if you revert it back to day one, it still keeps all the folders and such. I want a complete wipe of my computer so it's exactly like it was when I bought it, or as close as possible. Thanks!!!

the only true way to do that is to reformat you hard drive using the zero zone option which writes the hard drive with zeros and/or ones then reinstall windows on in. that way even personal data can't be recovered.

You need to format the disk, to remove everything from it.

There are so many ways to do this.

What make and model is the computer? This is required if you want a definitive answer.

Did you get a recovery disk with the computer, if so use that.

Is there a recovery program somewhere in All Programs?

Have you got a Windows CD.

Compaq usually recover by hitting F10 when the screen shows the Compaq logo as it boots up. Tapp the F10 key several times to make sure you get the timing right. Then just follow the instructions.

Download Boot & nuke hard drive wipe, then re-install windows with the cd....and please dont say "what cd"
