How do you completely wipe your hard drive ready to put windows on it?

I wanted to know how you can completely delete everything on your hard drive... including drivers, current OS. EVERYTHING... so i can just put my new OS on it... i know there is software like WipeDrive... but you have to pay for it... isn't there anything free you can do?

Right click on start go to Explore right click on on C drive click format.

Follow instructions.

take ur hard drive out of the pc,put it in a different pc and right click on the drive go down 2 format and there ya go,but it wont let u format in its original pc
