I am having problems with the computer that receives the wireless signal. I decided to reinstall the operating system to start from scratch, and in doing so it went from SP2 to SP1 and I have no idea how to set up the internet on it. I am not sure if it even recognizes that I have a wireless card in the computer and I don't have any of the original software for the card.

  1. Oh my!  Where did SP2 go?  Why did you overwrite me?  Oh ye gods!

  2. You have to make sure that your network interface card is installed, and you have to go to control panel and device manager to find that information. If the device in question has a red or yellow exclamation point, that means it needs drivers. Which can be gotten by googling the VEN and DEV 4 digit hexidecimal numbers.

Also, there were many improvements with SP3, such as new wifi encryptions, that previous version of windows do not support, thus will not connect to a network even if it is detected.

I suggest plugging the computer in via Ethernet and upgrading all the way to sp3.
