  1. yeaah exactly what the guy before me said thats how i connected mine up

  2. If your using Windows Vista go into the networking and sharing center and the left there is "connect to a network" locate the router and connect to it and put in the password if it's password protected (which I would recommend is very important). Having a password in the router prevents unauthorized access to your network.

If your using Win XP there is also a network center there you would have to locate the network for both XP/Vista and connect to it. If theres any complications add details and I will look into it further.

    Post Script:

Try resetting the router as already been suggested by unplugging the router for a few seconds or by a reset swtich. There is a dianostic repair tool in Windows Vista you should try that does correct some problems. If that doesn't work you can try an ethernet cable pluging the laptop into the router and try a wired connection. If it works by a LAN connection then its somthing with the wireless, on the laptop there should be a swtich for the wireless make sure thats set to on. Since your laptop works I don't think it is a setting within the router. It's probably a setting on your dad's laptop.

In the network and sharing center it should read access: local and internet and under connection: Wireless Network Connection.

  3. is the internet cord pluged into the wan from the modem if not do that and try again.

  4. If he does what you do to connect it should work.  Unless there have been some router configuration changes like limiting the number of IPs in the router's DHCP table.  It might be worth it to reset the router (press Reset button for 15 seconds).  If it works then it was the configuration.  After the reset be sure to secure the wireless.
