I just got a new Acer Aspire M1640 and a fairly old CRT TV.

The TV has the usual RCA, S-Video and SCART, but the computer only uses VGA. Is there anyway using converters and cables to somehow connect it?

  1. You can buy a video card that has the RCA, S-Video, or SCART connections already built in.  I have put a line in my source area to help.  Hopefully, it will light up and work for you.  I will test it before I leave to assure it works.

That is my advice until you can purchase a digital TV that has the VGA port.

  2. Yes, you can easily get a VGA to Scart adaptor.

If you're good with electronics you can build one.

  3. you can buy connectors from argos for about £8 or £9 and you put your vga cable into it and then at the other end it will have an s-video or scart adaptor.

if you are connecting your computer to the tv make sure the tv spec isnt to high for the computer or the other way around as this can make the fuse blow and you will break either one of them
