How do you connect a vacuum hose to pool pump?

I'm having trouble with the vaccum sucking at all. Can somebody help me get it going. its a plastic vacuum head with wheels.

Fill the hose with water (using the nozzle that returns the water to the pool is the easiest way)and make sure it is full. Place the adapter into the skimmer and hook the hose up to it. It should work then unless you get air in the hose.

Make sure your hose is cleaned out (nothing stuck like leaves or other debris).  Then make sure hose is full of water (I usually hold up against the return line until water comes out the vaccum head) and then connect to the appropriate place.
