  1. The 9/5 method always seemed awkward to me and I could never remember whether it should be 5/9 or 9/5. Besides, people suck at multiplying (let alone dividing) by 9.

    The formula that I use when I have a calculator is

    F = 1.8*C + 32

    But here's a method that you can do in your head.

    Take the temperature in C and double it

    Subtract 10% of that answer

    Add 32

    Example:

    20*2=40

    40-4=36

    36+32=68

  2. C * (9/5) + 32 = F

  3. Take the number of degrees Celsius, multiply by 9, divide by 5, then add 32.

    20 C = 68 F

  4. The 9/5 and 5/9 method is the long method. 9/5 = 1.8...use this instead as follows...

    (°C x 1.8) + 32 = °F.

    (20°C x 1.8) + 32 = 36 + 32 = 68°F.

    Boiling water: (100°C x 1.8) + 32 = 180 + 32 = 212°F.

    Freezing water: (0°C x 1.8) + 32 = 0 + 32 = 32 °F.

    (In reverse: (°F - 32) / 1.8 = °C. (212°F - 32) / 1.8 = 180 / 1.8 = 100°C)
