  1. C = 5/9 (F-32)

You can always check it to make sure you have the right equation by substituting in the boiling point (212 deg f) and you will get 100 for Celsius.

  2. The formula is:

    C= (5/9)x (F-32)

But I will give you a simpler way of doing it.

Step1. First subtract 32 from the given value of F

Step 2. Divide the result of Step 1 by 2.

Step 3. Make a tabular ladder starting with the result of Step 2, but move the decimal place of the number one place to the left for each succeeding entry. Make at least 5 entries.

Step 4. Sum up the entries

Example: Convert 200 degrees Fahrenheit  to degrees Centigrade.

    Solution:

    Step 1.  200-32 = 168

    Step 2.  168/2 = 84

    Step 3.

      84.

      8.4

      0.84

      0.084

      0.0084

    Step 4.   Sum =   93.3324          degrees Centigrade

Note that if we keep on adding entries, the sum would approach 93.333333333...... which is the value of 200 degrees Fahrenheit in Centigrade.

This and other simplified methods and algorithms in Mathematics are discussed in my book entitled "Alternative Approach to Mathematics" which is available for sale on mail order basis.

  3. it's a 3 steps process.

    1. Begin by subtracting 32 from the Fahrenheit number.

    2. Divide the answer by 9.

    3. Then multiply that answer by 5.

  4. C=5/9 (F-32)
