How do you convert movies made in windows movie maker into a format that can be uploaded to youtube?

Download the 'Free Ipod Converter'. This program allows you, to not only convert various video files, it also allows you to download videos from youtube. Just google it.

ooooh i did that oly a few months ago.  there is something on the actual movie maker itself that tranfers it to a differant format for you.

Hope fully someone will explain further ;)

Easy.  There are three ways to do it.

1)  Press File:  Save Movie File

2)  Press CTRL +P

3)  Press Tasks (on the toolbar), and underneath "Finish Movie", press "Save to my computer".

Once you get to this screen (you need to make sure it's "to my computer"), name your file, and press "Next".  You'll come to a screen with a drop-down list of file types you can save it as.  You can choose "High Quality Video (Small)" or "High Quality Video (Large)" [Large is better quality].  Choose "Next", and it will start "Saving" or "Publishing" or "Converting" or whatever term you want to use.  It will end up in .WMV format, which Youtube accepts.
