I need to know everything there is to know about military time specifically. For example, 5pm is 17, 7:30am is 7:30, and 7:30pm is 19:30. This is what I know: I know that after noon, you just add 12 and take off the pm or am. But how does it go from 7:30am to 7:30? I don't know how to convert am times like midnight is (00:00)???

  1. A.M. times are exactly that, the same as A.M. times just with a zero at the beginning.  so midnight is 00:00 then 1:00 is 0100, 2:00 is 0200, three....etc.  Just goes from zero to 24.

  2. All are right, an easy way to remember is at 12 noon, add 2 hours to go from regular time to military time.

    1pm is 1300

    2pm is 1400

3pm is 1500 just keep going up.

  3. You're correct, except that a.m. hours are converted to numbers between 0000 and 1159.  It would be pronounced, for example, "zero-five-hundred hours" for 0500 (5:00 a.m.)or "zero-seven-thirty" for 0730 (7:30 a.m.).  Also, p.m. hours are converted to numbers 1200 to 2359.  Midnight is alternately expressed as 2400 and 0000.  The "a.m." and "p.m." are not used, as it is a 24-hour system with no morning/evening repetition.

  4. Military time is the use of a 24-hour clock instead of AM and PM when reporting actual labor or machine time. So, after 12 noon just keep on going until you reach a 24 hr period. Example: 5pm=1700.
