  1. Try educating your parents to the sport of airsoft, and how safe it actually is. Explain that you take the same safety precautions as paintball, with the safety goggles and everything. I snipe on an airsoft team, and I have a buddy on my team that uses a paintball mask instead of just the goggles (because he's afraid of my rifle, haha) but if your parents are iffy about the safety, I'd wear a paintball mask.

Also, make sure you wear other protection, too. They make airsoft "flak jackets," which are just nylon vests with thin wooden boards inside that stop the pellet. But if you wear stuff like thick pants and long-sleeved shirts, you should be okay from the "bug bites," as the guys on my team call 'em. Remember to get a cup. Getting shot down there hurts something fierce.

Also, don't get a gun that doesn't have the orange tip unless you're actually playing on a huge field or wooded area that YOU own and has no other residents around that can call the cops. And remember to deal with police cooperatively and politely if any situation arises. Good luck with the 'rents.

  2. If they let you buy a paintball gun you just have to show them how airsoft is safer and better than paintball.

    1. Start by comparing the speed at which paintball are shot at to the speed plastic bbs are shot at, the is a huge difference between them. The speed, size, and momentum of the paintball cause for bigger bruises and a lot more pain, plus they are shot by gas. Most airsoft guns are shot by compressed air not gas thus resulting in less, but a little sharper pain.

2.Airsoft guns are a lot cheaper and unless you buy a gas airsoft gun, you don't pay for gas.

    3. Airsoft guns ressemble real guns which is where they get their good looks, although never take the orange tip off in  pulic areas and check the law in your state, because you could get in trouble with police.( that is why they have the orange tip to tell the difference between airsoft guns and real guns)

    4. It is a good hobby and maybe you and your dad can get into it, I like going to my backyard with my dad and play a little capture the flag or even just shoot trees and cans.

    Hoped this helped!

  3. Tell your mom that anything under the velocity of 350 fps won't break skin and you can always just be the q***r in the battle with the vest but at least you will be able to airsoft just make sure that when you are talkin airsoft with your parents that you make it clear that proper protection comes before then gun using this plan will convince your mom and you will suceed. But I think the best thing you could do is just buy a clear gun I mean they don't look as good but its better then not having one at all.

    Good Luck

  4. Start by enrolling in a local hunter or gun safety course.  This will show your parents that you are serious about safe airsoft play.  Discuss it with them, and let them know you are really interested in a sport that gives you more physical excercise that Play Station 3 ever will.  You may also want to compile a list of airsoft safety articles from the web.  Become familiar with the airsoft safety concepts and give your parents an overview.  Go to an indoor airsoft facility, rent some guns with your parents and play in a few skirmishes with them.  They might like it so much the whole family will get airsoft guns!!

Always remember, they are your parents and they have the final say.  If they decide against it you need to respect their decisions.

  5. Get one that shoots plastic BBs.  Convince them that you won't ever point it at anyone in the house, ever.  Ever.

  6. Dude you need to close this question...if you do half the stuff these people have told you to do, you should be able to get something. You have a lot of good advise here. If all else fails, wait a couple years, buy one and keep it at your buddies house, and/or make sure YOU are able to be trusted with a nice AEG.
