  1. Me and my older brother would go to the river and fish the slough for perch  sun fish and ?? yea

we would clean them and ride our bicycles back home

MOM would have nothing do with our prize catch but dad gave us an even more reward

across the street was a very old Yugoslavian gentleman

dad took us and our catch over there

Johnny was so happy he put them in a big big pot and then sat the  three of us down to a glass of very diluted red wine he made.. Talk about proud men!! (kids)

OH sorry Johnny made a fish stew... the bones dissolved and the skin would float to the top..

  2. Perch Fillets -- THIS IS HUMAN FOOD!!! DELISH!!!

"Guests will never guess that lemon-lime soda and pancake mix are the secret ingredients behind these tasty perch fillets in a golden coating. 'If perch isn't available, try substituting haddock,' suggests Connie Tibbetts from her kitchen in Wilton, Maine."

    INGREDIENTS

    1 1/2 cups lemon-lime soda

    1 pound perch fillets

    2 cups pancake mix

    1/4 teaspoon pepper

    oil for frying

    DIRECTIONS

Pour soda into a shallow bowl; add fish fillets and let stand for 15 minutes. In another shallow bowl, combine pancake mix and pepper. Remove fish from soda and coat with pancake mix.

In a large skillet, heat 1/4 in. of oil over medium-high heat. Fry fish for 2-3 minutes on each side or until fish flakes with a fork. Drain on paper towels.

  3. Boil'em and remove the bones.

  4. Wow, don't waste good perch on your dog!!

Take the fish (filet it if possible) and dip it into egg and milk.  Shake in a bag with crushed saltines and a bit of flour.  Pan fry or deep fry.  YUM!

  5. I don't know. You would have to pressure cook them to soften all the bones.

I don't feed my dog fish.

  6. Well they have bones, which you should never give a dog fish bones. So I'd just saute em whole in a little butter in a skillet for ten minutes(won't take long to cook at all) don't over cook them or they will fall apart). Then add some water n a bouillon cube. Cover the skillet and simmer about 10 minutes. Remove n let set. When its >>completely cool<< the meat should lift off the bones in almost a solid piece. Easier to separate from the bones. Give him the broth too. Never give garlic or onions to dogs, they are poisonous to dogs! You could eat these yourself if you add alil salt n pepper. then sprinkle with dill n lemon juice!

  7. Perch = people food!  Man, don't waste that on the dog.

For people, I'd coat it in flour, salt and pepper and then pan fry it in butter until crispy.

For the dog, if you really, really insist on throwing your fish away, I'd make sure to remove ALL the bones and then steam it or something simple.  Things like garlic that taste good to us can actually be bad for pets.
