  1. By great, what exactly do you mean?

There are a lot of people who want to do great things, but never do them. I don't think it's always a lack of a capacity so must as low self-esteem and that sort of thing.

At least give yourself a slim chance and say, "I DON'T THINK I'll never do anything great." You never know. For example, a middle class man was playing basketball one day, fell down and hit his head. The concussion was all part of something great, because when he woke up, he then had the capacity to recall everything from that day forward.

You could ask this man what he did 2 years back, say October 9th at 4:40 p.m. and he could tell you what he was up to.

This was an incredible mistake, and an average man can now do something amazing.

This will likely never happen to any of us. I don't know how you cope with that, you just need to find a way to be happy with the things that you have. Use to opposite approach... think about people who are less fortunate and at least don't have a computer to express their emotions on for others to hear. Those who don't have food. All kinds of stuff.

"To he who thinks, life is a comedy. To he who feels, a tragedy."

  2. Haha I've felt that way too....like sometimes I'd do something wrong and some snobbish know-it-all would be all "No you're doing it wrong" and then I'd get that feeling that I'm good at nothing. But everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. Nobody is perfect. So find that one thing that you're good at, whether it sports, performing arts, being a nice person, debate, etc. Or if you truly feel that way, try to work on something that you'd like to improve about yourself. I'm sure you're good at at least one thing. So find it and embrace it!

  3. You're not untalented. You're just being pessimistic because probably you have not achieved something great in your life. All you need is dream, have faith (Big faith) in yourself and a passion.

By the way sometimes you need to do things in your expertise. If you keep doing things that are not in your interest and not good at it, you will appear to be a loser in that field. But when you do things in your expertise particularly, you will appear to be great and feel great. So don't give up. You need to be emotionally strong!

  4. No one is ever considered talented or great until they have done something great. Many great things have come from seemingly ordinary or untalented people. The only thing that inhibits greatness is ones own belief.

  5. what???? Sh_t i always thought i would d**n, well i will get back to you aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

  6. Talent doesn't make us great... when I was a child it was fully expected I would write award winning books/write symphonies and cure cancer.... seriously that is what people thought I was capable of! I disagreed with them and felt like you do, so I was afraid to try much of the time.  Anyway, a few years back I got very ill and survived a disease that kills most people. In recovering from that I had to redefine "greatness."  Positve attitude, a passionate interest, and a great deal of effort, not talent lead to greatness.  You may have already saved someone's life and not even know it.  Something you said to someone might have changed their life.. you never know the impact you have on the world around you.

  7. But you must be good at least on one thing?! What do you enjoy doing the most? How you cope is to pick a task and see it to the very end. You don't have to be good at it, you just give it your all. Great people are not born, they make themselves.

What is something great you want to do with your life if you had the talents? Go for it. Learn what you need to do and do it anyways. There is something to be said for trying and overcoming our limitations.

  8. I believe that's total rubbish.Never think of yourself that way.Look around you, there are thousands of people out there who probably thought like that.Something always comes along that makes you shine--don't keep looking for it ,it will find you.

  9. *  A useful question probably intended to help many others.

    * This question is not based on the experience and feelings of one person. Many young people feel this way. There are two reasons for this. (i) Parents, teachers, and schools / colleges are happy to push children and youngsters into the 'rat-race' and tell them they must achieve the best and must not be satisfied with anything less than the best. (ii) The misconception that the ones who have failed to achieve the best are untalented.

    *  Why should one be obsessed with doing 'great' things ? Why not replace the word 'great' with 'useful and beneficent' ?

    *  We must teach children that life is short and that we must all try to do our best to make our lives useful, beneficent and enjoyable not only to ourselves but even to others if it is possible, and that one must try to do what he / she is capable of, and not to condemn oneself as untalented thereby defeating oneself beyond redemption.

    * If you have asked the question for your own benefit, many wonderful answers have come from Yahoo friends. I wish to congratulate them all for sharing their knowledge and views with others.

  10. Everyone has something within themselves, it is just a matter of time and patience for you to find your nitch, what do you enjoy, writing, doing something with your hands, and always remember most people  get notice for something when they least expect it.  Keep your head up and I agree with the other person believe in yourself.

  11. Mother Teresa was greatly revered, yet she had limited intelligence, and sometimes had doubts about her faith.

You don't need talent, but motivation, persistence, and refusal to be distracted from your set goal are some characteristics which would help considerably.

Aptitude tests, vocational guidance, and career training can get you going on the right path, or at least avoiding the wrong ones (most people change lines of employment, these days).

  12. There's a great movie that answers this for you.  Its called 'Simon Birch'.  You should watch it sometime.

  13. HI Mark,

We all have some kind of talent in us, something that we excel in. It may take time to find out what it is or it may be right under your nose and you don't even realize it. But believe me you do.

Take care and never give up!

    Cella

  14. So you dying in when. Till the dirt hits your face how are you sure you'll never do anything great. Be happy with who you are. That takes a talent not many have. Do you even try becoming talented at anything or just whine.

I don't have to cope with this because I see my own potential in so many things.

    Believe in yourself

  15. Some people are observers, and others are participants.  If you are content to be an observer, then don't put any effort forth to be a participant, and you Won't do anything great.  It's a choice, and it's freewill at work.

  16. josh999 is wrong. Theres really nothing to say. You just have to deal with it. Accept it- thats it. If it helps any, most people fall under the same category. I fall under that category.

who knows though, you might be wrong. Just maybe.

  17. Buddy, if you don't believe in yourself, no one will believe in you.

If you think that you suck at everything, everyone else will too.

If you don't try hard, people won't try to help you.

God gives EVERYONE a talent. Work with what you have.

You could be the saddest sack on the planet, but where will that get you? Live up to your highest potential. Always have confidence. Think to yourself "I know I can do this." If you think "I can't do this. Why even bother?" THATS THE WORST ATTITUDE IN THE WORLD. Make some friends and get out there and live.

    Good luck :)
