Question:

How do you correct a tv with no color?

I just got myself an Emerson television, and hooked it up to my appliances. I have a Playstation 2 and a GameCube hooked up to the YRW (yellow-red-white) inputs in the Line1 and Line2 sockets of a Symphonic DVD/VHS player (vcr, for sake of words). The cable tv cable is hooked up to the direct input of the VCR, and the VCR output is connected to the only input into the Emerson TV.

To better explain it, my game consoles are hooked up to the VCR which is then hooked up to the tv.

Despite my seemingly-flawless setup, I get no color in the tv! Everything is in black and white. I double-checked the tv's and VCR's setups and found nothing wrong.

Does anyone know what I could do to correct this?

  1. Please check whether your inputs YRW is for component video inputs, Or  video with left and right audio inputs. I fear that something is wrong in the wiring. Check for correct inputs and out puts wiring with their resp. sockets. Or else, contact the service centre.

  2. If you attached the cable from the wall AND the composite cables (YRW) and both produced B+W pic then the set is defective (the jungle IC or a trace going to or from it to be more specific).  -------Make sure the color is turned up in the menu BTW.--------

You can see the OSD (on screen display) in color because it is being generated in a different circuit
