  1. sicillian or najdorf are best way to counter ruy lopez

  2. Do not play e5 against e4!!

  3. It has been said that the only thing wrong with the Ruy Lopez is the Sicilian Defence! However, presuming you like 1...e5, unless you want to play the Petroff, you must choose a variation of the Ruy you like. I play the Marshall Gambit. It's completely sound. So sound that many players play anti-marshalls instead of accepting. d**n. Other active options include the Archangelsk variation. If you want solidity, the Berlin defence is a tough nut to crack. If you want hair-raising adventure, venture the Schliemann defence.

  4. Hi,

You may like to pay a visit to my web page - link below?  2,000+ openings are listed.  I hope this is helpful for you.

    Yours,

    Chesmayne.

  5. In the year 2000 Vladimir Kramnik defeated Garry Kasparov to become World Chess Champion and a big part of his victory was how he defended against Kasparov's Ruy Lopez.

His choice was the Berlin Defence and I have retrieved some links that will introduce you to that defence.  good luck and good chess!

  6. I always play the Steinitz Defense Deferred--but yeah, that is one tough banana (as I always think, after being shaken around like a dog's toy yet again).
