Opening your Coconut-Juice

To eat the coconut, first puncture one or two of its eyes with a sharp thin tool, a corkscrew can work or use a hammer and nail. Hold the hole over a small bowl and let the coconut juice drain out.

Cracking your Coconut

Crack open the coconut by tapping the edge with the blunt edge of a large knife. If if does not open, try baking it in the oven for 15-25 minutes. You will see it will partially crack from the heat. Let it cool and try tapping the edge again.

I don't think we have laughed so hard in a long time.  I wonder how the early Polynesians cracked open their coconuts without any hammers, sidewalks, or an oven (that was the best laugh!).  It was a good thing you did not ask how to husk a  coconut!  Yes, I know, this is not the old days, and my husband is Hawaiian and uses a machete, but here is some information you may find interesting...

I usually hold the coconut in one hand and with the other hand use a hammer or another hard heavy object and hit the the coconut a couple times till it cracks. You don't need to hit it too hard. If you want to save the coconut water, then when you have a crack drain the water into a cup. Then you can even put it down and hit it one more time to crack it in two (or more) pieces. Hope that makes sense to you!

Drain the liquid by puncturing the 'eyes' . bake on 350* for 15 minutes. Wrap in a towel, breakinto pieces with a hammer. With a knife, pry meat from the shell. Peel brown skin with a peeler. Could be wrapped and refrigerated for 2 days.

ok  i had trouble doing that at first but don't feel bad about it  u go outside and take a hammer and hit it a little all the way aroundbut don't hit it 2 hard while doing that!     and peel what comeoff the smash a hole in it with a hammer and a screwdriver
