Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

Get with a domain registrar, find a hosting plan, get an HTML editor and even find a free HTML template if you wish to go that far.  There is a better explanation at http://directorix.net/articles.html

For domains and hosting, you really can't go wrong with Godaddy.  They've got great support and extensive tutorials if you are unfamiliar with what you are doing.  For starters, they are unbeatable.  After you've become more experienced with hosting and domain registration, then expand outward.  Hope this helps.
