How do you create ready, willing and able learners?

i know this is a big question, but throughout my teaching career i, and i guess most other teachers have focussed on creating able learners, but what about the ready and willing bit. I would be interestd to hear from teachers whose focus is to create better learners not just better learning.

yyu have to make your lessons more intereesting and interactive. it shuldbe fun for the students to learn, this way they become more wiling to learn. Once they realizee the need, it's not needed as they'll want to know more and more things. but this realization has to be brought in by the teacher by getting them to learn things in a fun way.
