Okay. This may sound stupid on my part, for it's probably impossible, but I was wondering if it is possible at all to cross-bread flowers. Like say, a tulip and a rose? And if it's possible, how do you do it?

  1. When using cross-fertilization in flowers, what you would do is to collect pollen from one flower and transfer it to the stamen of the other flower. (and, no.. it's not impossible. Gregor Mendel did this with peas in an experiment of finding more about DNA factors)

  2. To cross-breed, transfer pollen from one flower (pollen donor) to the stigma  (not stamen as indicated in previous answer) of another flower on a different plant.  To prevent self-fertilization in those plants that can self fertilize, remove anthers from the flower to which pollen will be transferred before anthers are mature.  Also, to prevent pollen from unwanted flowers pollinating the flowers that received the pollen in the controlled transfer, cover with plastic bag.
