  1. As pointed out before, there could be a bunch of different reasons why you are slicing - but since I do the same when I miss-hit and have been playing just over that amount, I'll try to suggest a couple things to try out at the range.

    1.  Hit the range and determine where on your clubface you are hitting the ball.  I will venture a guess that you probably are hitting it close to the hozzel. (sp?)  If yes, then one thing to consider is if you are standing too close.

    2.  Video tape your swing.  Look to see if you are "coming over the top", or connecting with an open club face.

    3.  Are you using stiff shafts and the release is leaving the club open?

    4.  Are you aiming correctly?  This one is REALLY interesting.. If you are right handed and right-eye dominant, then you will under most situations line up way right of the target.  (Got this from a pro.)  I have to focus my allignment to something much closer and basically use my brain to override what it sees from my eyes.  THIS REALLY helped.

    5.  Grip your club so that it is more closed at address AND make sure that you are clearing your hips during the swing.  If you are all arms and shoulders, your chances of slicing OR hooking greatly increase.

    6.  Tempo - give up some distance for control.  Slow it down and your results should get better.

For me, changing my grip did the most help, followed VERY closely by my allignent and next is making a much more controlled (tempo) swing.  Where I had been slicing really bad, I have started to learn a draw.  = )

  2. You have to realize the physics that cause the ball to slice and work on correcting that. The spin you are putting on the ball is a side spin probably because the face of the club is hitting the ball off center. You may need to stand a little closer to the ball set it up between the ball of you front foot and toe, and keep your back swing slow and low to the ground. I would suggest you read the book by Ben Hogan, The Modern Fundamentals of Golf, he breaks down the proper swing and gives you a good foundation to build on.

  3. this sounds horse c**p but this is my first real year of golf. i went ahead and bought that medicus driver. i had the worse slice ever and the golf course i play at has alot of houses around it. anyway, i took the medicus to the driving range. took me lil over 15 minutes to get the whole swing down. after i got that swing down i was using my regular driver. i was hitting them straight. 7 out of 10 i was hitting good. im no salesman but if one of your buddies has one try one. this was my best investments in golf so far.

  4. HOOK IT!

  5. Tighten up your left hand and try to swing down and through instead of around.

  6. You will never get the correct answer off of here.  Fact of the matter is that there are so many different reasons a ball slices.  Best bet would be getting a lesson and trying to solve it with the pro.

  7. There is one reason for a slice, it's the fact that the face is cutting through the ball from right to left.  Imagine a knife, slicing is because you slice it from top to bottom, instead of slapping it with its side.

The cause of the face slicing through the ball is because of the swing path that is outside to in.  Imagine you standing at 6 o'clock on a clock that's laid flat on the ground.  Ideal swing path should go from 4 to 10.  Not 3 to nine.  or worse from 2 to 8.  That inside out swing path will produce straight / slight draw on your shots.

The cause of why you swing from outside in, only with swing analysis you'd be able to identify and work on it, such as :

    - lack of full shoulder turn

    - weak grip

    - swinging with your arms, so you throw the club from outside in

    - finish

    - lack of lower body rotation

    - etc

Go get lessons if you want to fix your slice.  I used to be a terrible player, after playing on and off for 6 years.  I took lessons and it fixed a lot of my problems that I didn't realize I had.

  8. If you have only been playing for 2 years you HAVEN'T tried everything yet. Golf is a long, long road brother. You will NEVER be able to completely control your swing, so stop trying. Take a few lesson and play YOUR WAY. The is NOTHING wrong with a slice. I just wish I could hit one. I hook the ball, and it sucks too.
